ELECTRIC BLUE TATTOO CO AFTERCARE

WE ONLY GUARANTEE OUR TATTOOS WHEN CLIENT USES OUR AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS!

TAKING THE BEST CARE FOR YOUR TATTOO

How you care for your new tattoo, depends on the type and extent of work done. Typically, however you'll need to:

  1. Keep plastic wrap on for 12-24hrs (Don’t leave on for more than 24hrs)
  2. Wash hands and remove wrap
  3. Wash tattoo off with clean hands and Dial Gold Anti-Bacterial Soap.
  4. Rinse tattoo off and let air dry for 15 minutes (can pat dry with paper towel)
  5. Apply thin layer of the non-scented/non-fragrance Lubriderm lotion after it’s dry.
  6. Place thin layer of Lubriderm lotion 3-4 times daily.
  7. Wash tattoo twice a day, morning and night.
  8. Follow these instructions for the next 3 weeks.

  • Keep the tattooed skin clean. Use plain soap and water with a gentle touch.  (we recommend Dial Antibacterial orange liquid soap) While showering, avoid direct streams of water on the newly tattooed skin.
  • Pat–don’t rub—the area dry.
  • Use Lubriderm Lotion only.
  • Avoid sun exposure. Keep the tattooed area out of the sun for at least a few weeks.
  • Avoid swimming. Stay out of pools, hot tubs, rivers, lakes and other bodies of water while your tattoo is healing.
  • Choose clothing carefully. Don’t wear anything that might stick to the tattoo.
  • Allow up to 3-4 weeks for healing.
  • Don’t scratch or pick scabs.

SANIDERM AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Saniderm helps protect the tattoo from bacteria and other elements for the best possible healing.
  2. Keep the saniderm on for 2-3 days. You can shower with it, try not to soak the area too much, it will weaken the adhesive. Avoid taking baths.
  3. You will see a build up of blood and plasma mixed with ink under the saniderm, this is perfectly normal. If  there’s a large amount of buildup, you may remove the saniderm after 24 hours.
  4. Once you remove the saniderm from your tattoo, start cleansing and moisturizing the tattoo according to the regular aftercare instructions.
  5. (possible to link to that sheet?)
  6. DO NOT re-bandage the tattoo after initial bandage is removed.

THINK YOUR TATTOO MAY BE INFECTED?

If you think your tattoo might be infected or you’re concerned that your tattoo isn’t healing properly, contact your doctor. If your tattoo isn’t what you expected and you’re interested in tattoo removal ask your dermatologist about laser surgery or other options for tattoo removal.

How to identify an infected tattoo?

The most common symptom of a tattoo infection is a rash or red, bumpy skin around the area where you have the tattoo.

In some cases, your skin may just be irritated because of the needle, especially if you have sensitive skin. If this is the case, your symptoms should fade after a few days. But if these symptoms continue for a week or more, see your tattoo artist or doctor if you experience one or more of the following:

  • Fever
  • Feeling waves of heat and cold
  • Abnormal shivering
  • Swelling in the tattooed area
  • Pus coming out of the tattooed area
  • Red lesions around tattooed area
  • Areas of hard, raised tissue
